In 2005, Pennsylvania was the 44th state to adopt "Direct Access” to physical therapy.  This permits a licensed physical therapist to treat you for a 30-day period for one condition prior to receiving a physician referral. It is important to note, if there are any issues that require physician intervention, we will ask that you immediately contact your physician. Insurance coverage for “Direct Access” may be available from your insurance provider.  Speak with your insurance provider to see if you are eligible for “Direct Access” coverage.  Currently, Medicare does not cover physical therapy without a physician referral.
